Turning up at local business networking events is good, especially when your picture is on the front cover of the local business magazines ! I must admit I never imagined my picture would make it to the front cover of any magazine, but this happened at a local business networking event which was fun and worth my time and money.
Some advantages for getting out of the office for a change for a few hours:
- Meeting other small business owners, who are as enthusiastic as you are!
- You learn something new each time from talking to people.
- Guest speakers provide valuable information to help your business.
- Enjoy a nice meal!
- Enjoy time out from work day stress.
- Establish new contacts.
- Maybe if you’re lucky – win a prize or get your photo in the business magazine!

I count the minutes and seconds to the morning or afternoon tea break. Nothing is so refreshing and relaxing than a cup of hot tea or coffee! It gets you going till the next break. Do you plan to use that time also to have a short exercise break – stretch or 5 or 10 minute walk around? Most offices use that time to have a little celebration for staff members birthdays or some event. Back in the ’70s there was always a Tea Lady in most offices. I miss those times, where you walked into the Tea Room to see a pot of hot tea brewing on the stove, or a pot of coffee. Sometimes if you were lucky you had scones, coffee scrolls, sandwiches! The Tea Lady was always so welcoming, creating a real homely atmosphere for staff to mingle and chat about the footy, politics or anything else under the sun.
