Local business networking works

Turning up at local business networking events is good, especially when your picture is on the front cover of the local business magazines !  I must admit I never imagined my picture would make it to the front cover of any magazine, but this happened at a local business networking event which was fun and worth my time and money.

Some advantages for getting out of the office for a change for a few hours:

  1. Meeting other small business owners, who are as enthusiastic as you are!
  2. You learn something new each time from talking to people.
  3. Guest speakers provide valuable information to help your business.
  4. Enjoy a nice meal!
  5. Enjoy time out from work day stress.
  6. Establish new contacts.
  7. Maybe if you’re lucky – win a prize or get your photo in the business magazine!

Have a great week!

The tea break

“Science may never come up with a better office communication system than the tea break” ~ Earl Wilson

If you are like me ;) I count the minutes and seconds to the morning or afternoon tea break. Nothing is so refreshing and relaxing than a cup of hot tea or coffee!  It gets you going till the next break. Do you plan to use that time also to have a short exercise break – stretch or 5 or 10 minute walk around? Most offices use that time to have a little celebration for staff members birthdays or some event. Back in the ’70s there was always a Tea Lady in most offices. I miss those times, where you walked into the Tea Room to see a pot of hot tea brewing on the stove, or a pot of coffee. Sometimes if you were lucky you had scones, coffee scrolls, sandwiches!  The Tea Lady was always so welcoming, creating a real homely atmosphere for staff to mingle and chat about the footy, politics or anything else under the sun. Do you have a Tea Lady in your office these days or even a regular morning/afternoon tea function?  Please share with us your thoughts.

Become a bookworm once again!

Found this sign on my Maccas takeaway meal pack today  …  ”I love reading books! They can take you to places you can only dream about … imagine that! “

So take time out from your computer and find a good book to read – once a week or once a month! Good for those brain cells!
